The boys and I had some errands to run this morning and we stopped by my mother’s house to return her flour container. There on her front porch was this absolutely beautiful adolescent cat. It was black with a white face and long, fluffy tail. As I got out of the car, it jumped down and started to walk away. That’s when I noticed it had a terribly deformed back, right leg. Its leg stuck way out to the side and obviously didn’t didn’t bend at all. I couldn’t tell if it was from trauma to the cat or a birth defect, but the fact that it was left outdoors to fin for itself makes my heart hurt. The vision of that little kitty trying to run across the street will haunt me.

My mother’s next door neighbors and their cat habits are notorious in the neighborhood. They’ve had the Human Society come in and clean their house out of cats (near 30 of them, I think) like you’ve seen done on animal planet. Even the police were there. I imagine that’s where this little gem of cat has come from. I can only hope that I see the lady that lives there soon and can ask to take it. That amazing little kitty deserves to come and live the good life at my house, indoors with a nice comfy bed to sleep on and a full food bowl. Its worked so hard just to walk, it deserves a break.

Every cat gets hairballs, right? Cats vomit. It’s just one of the joys of owning the purring, furry friends. Last night in the middle of the hockey game, Larry positions himself in the middle of the rug and begins to make that familiar hacking sound. I try to shoo him off the carpet but before I can, up it comes. What does he throw up? It’s not a hairball. He’s black and this is white. It’s a whole Q-tip. What?!?! Yup, a whole, slightly bent Q-tip, unscathed from the trip into his stomach and back. Maybe the cat isn’t as smart as I thought he was. I considering taking a picture for evidence, but my husband told me I had lost my mind. So I scrubbed it up without taking the photo. He’s no fun, huh?
