Andy had today off in observance of Veteran’s Day (the upside of working for a bank), so we took the boys for a walk on the boardwalk. We had a great time and it was absolutely beautiful. We even met our pals Susan and Jonah for the walk. We all got some much needed sunshine and even got to see a train cross the trestle (a definite way to make for happy little boys). The wildlife seems to have tucked most of itself away with coming of cooler temperatures, but we did see one turtle and some waterfowl. Here’s a couple pictures of our beautiful boys.

We’re looking forward to Saturday! Its Tot Discovery time at Goose Creek State Park. This month’s program is about spiders. Ollie gets to go listen to story about spiders, go out into the woods and look for some, and then make a spider themed art project. Its going to be fantastic. There’s a really great Park Ranger that conducts the Saturday morning classes for the little folks. I can’t recall her name, but she’s wonderful. She remembers the kids from month to month and is so great with all of them. Thanks to all the folks at the park and we can’t wait to see you all on Saturday!

When you have little kids, you live at the grocery store. My boys thrive on fresh fruit, so we’re there at least two or three times a week. I got an email recently from one of my favorite grocery stores looking for mystery shoppers. I decided to sign up. Might as well make some of my numerous trips to the store profitable, right? So far, things are looking pretty good. I have my first assignment on Saturday. Apparently not many other folks in my area have signed up. The lady that schedules around here has asked if I would be willing to visit a few other towns about an hour away. It won’t make me rich by any means, but a couple extra bucks for doing something I would be doing anyway can’t hurt. The best part? They want you to bring your kids. A couple of the scenarios even require you to have them. Looks like the boys and I are going to have an excuse to take a road trip.

Ollie, Emmett and I joined Einar (Far Far, Norwegian for father’s father) and Susan and Jonah for a walk on the boardwalk downtown. It was a beautiful afternoon with a nice breeze off the river. We stopped and looked at all kinds of wildlife along the way, even fed the turtles. I think we spent a little over 2 hours down there walking around and looking over the edge for frogs. The long walk tired the boys right out and they both went to bed early. Joy! Here’s a few pictures of our walk and some of the critters we found.

Our plans for Saturday are to go to Goose Creek State Park to a “Tot Discovery” class. Its designed for little guys, so Ollie will have a wonderful time learning about some kind of creature or another. Last time he got to make an owl out of a paper bag. During the class, Emmett gets to run around in the woods with his best buddy, Jonah. When we’re done with all that, we’re going to settle in with a group of kids and mommies and have a picnic. Saturdays don’t get much better than that.
